The Response of Enterococcus faecalis V583 to Chloramphenicol Treatment
Many Enterococcus faecalis strains display tolerance or resistance to many antibiotics, but genes that contribute to the resistance cannot be specified. The multiresistant E. faecalis V583, for which the complete genome sequence is available, survives and grows in media containing relatively high levels of chloramphenicol. No specific genes coding for chloramphenicol resistance has been recogni...
متن کاملEffect of cisplatin treatment on the response to serotonin
Although cisplatin is one of the most effective cancer drugs which is widely used in the treatment of various neoplasms, its side effects, especially vomiting may limit its use. It has been demonstrated that cytotoxic drugs lead to a sudden release of serotonin (5-HT). The following study was performed to determine the possible interactions of cisplatin with 5-HT receptors. In this study, the...
متن کاملMicroarray expression profiling of Yersinia pestis in response to chloramphenicol.
Plague is a deadly disease caused by Yersinia pestis. Human plague can be effectively controlled by timely antibiotic administration, chloramphenicol being a drug of choice. In this study, a DNA microarray was used to investigate the gene expression profile of Y. pestis in response to chloramphenicol. Seven hundred and fifty-five genes were differentially expressed on chloramphenicol treatment:...
متن کاملAssessment of Response to Treatment in Patients with Otomycosis
Introduction: Due to the prevalence of otomycosis in the north of Iran, which has a humid climate, this study aimed to examine the recurrence rate of otomycosis in Iranian patients. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in all patients suspected of otomycosis referred to the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic of Ayatollah Rouhani Hospital of Babol. Demographic and clinical da...
متن کاملChloramphenicol acetyltransferase should not provide methanogens with resistance to chloramphenicol.
Growth of the four methanogens investigated was inhibited by chloramphenicol-3-acetate; therefore, introduction of chloramphenicol acetyltransferase-encoding genes should not confer chloramphenicol resistance on these methanogens. Reduction of the aryl nitro group of chloramphenicol produced a compound which did not inhibit the growth of these methanogens.
